About me
Professor Arun Ranganathan is a dual-trained orthopaedic and neuro-spine surgeon.
He was appointed a consultant at age 35 following extensive training and fellowships in the UK and at Toronto's Krembil Neuroscience Centre. He earned a DM doctorate from the University of Nottingham for spinal surgery research conducted at the Sir Peter Mansfield Centre.
He remains the youngest ever two-time winner of the ISSLS (formerly Volvo) prize for intervertebral disc research (2004, 2009 and also received the Britspine Award (2004) and Spine Society of Australia award (2009) for international spinal research.
He holds honorary professorships in orthopaedic and spine surgery at institutions in India and Vietnam.
He led the world's first live-televised scoliosis correction surgery on Channel 5's Operation Live.
He launched the scoliosis service at The Royal London Hospital, performing approximately 60 life-changing surgeries annually.
He founded London Spine Care to bring together surgeons, physiotherapists, osteopaths and pain specialists in a multidisciplinary, holistic practice.
He has introduced new techniques and training in Asia, notably in Vietnam, India, Nepal and Southeast Asia.
He is actively involved in developing virtual-reality surgical planning tools, robotics and advanced spinal instrumentation.
He is a former national-standard tennis player, an avid runner and mountaineer - driven by an active, goal-oriented lifestyle.
