About me

Dr Shannon graduated with Honours from the Queen's University Belfast in 2002, after being awarded a number of undergraduate prizes. She began her cardiology training at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast where she also undertook clinical research leading to the award of an MD. She was then selected to undertake a highly prestigious fellowship in Milan, under the mentorship of Dr Antonio Colombo, a world authority in interventional cardiology. This allowed her to gain unrivalled experience in coronary and structural intervention including transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). She returned from Milan to complete her training at Imperial College London with a further interventional fellowship at the Hammersmith Hospital.

Dr Shannon was appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist at Frimley Park Hospital in 2012. She She has a particular interest in the diagnosis and treatment of ischaemic heart disease, and has expertise in coronary angioplasty and stenting for both stable angina and unstable acute coronary syndromes. She also has expertise in complex coronary intervention to include left main stem disease, calcium modification techniques and intravascular imaging guided intervention.

In addition, Dr Shannon has expertise in transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) for patients with aortic stenosis who are unsuitable for open heart surgery. She is the cross-site lead for the TAVI programme at Frimley Health and is an Honorary Consultant at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London where she regularly performs these procedures as part of the Royal Brompton and Harefield Trust structural heart team.
