About me
Mr Mackie studied medicine at University College London and on qualifying entered service with the Royal Navy. After a period of general medical duties he specialised in Urology, undertaking an MSc in Urology as well as an MD in Biomedical Sciences. With an interest in research he completed theses on new chemotherapy agents for urological cancers. During specialist training he undertook a two year fellowship in minimal access surgery and renal stone disease in Edinburgh and Sydney, following which he was appointed as Consultant Urological Surgeon to the Defence Medical Services in Portsmouth. In 2015 he retired from full time military service to take up an NHS post in East Sussex. He has developed a general urological service with a sub-specialist interest in minimal access surgery for renal stone disease. He is married to Clodagh with four children and enjoys sailing, mountaineering and outdoor pursuits.
