About me
I am a Clinical Psychologist with in excess of 10 years clinical experience working in the NHS. I gained my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Edinburgh in 2004, and re-located to the North Lancashire area in 2010. I am registered with the Health Professions Council, registration number PYL16628 (www.hpcheck.org) and am chartered with the British Psychological Society. I am an accredited EMDR practitioner.
I have been working in private practice for the past 13 years.
Areas of interest
I use time-limited evidence-based psychotherapies, most commonly Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement De-sensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). CBT is a psychological treatment that encourages people to develop their ability to identify and challenge negative thoughts, and to re-evaluate possibly unhelpful beliefs about themselves, other people and the world. I specialise in treating the psychological effects of trauma and can also help with a wide range of difficulties including:
Anxiety;
Depression;
Post-traumatic stress disorder;
Obsessive compulsive disorder;
Eating disorders
Bereavement
