About me
I studied medicine at Glasgow University and completed my surgical training in the West Midlands. In 2010, I was appointed as a consultant at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with specialisation in lower-limb and breast reconstruction. In 2015, I left the NHS to work in the private health sector.
I am trained in all areas of aesthetic and reconstructive Plastic Surgery performing the full repertoire of procedures. My specialist interest lies in aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery, lymphoedema surgery and body contouring after massive weight loss. I completed a 6 month fellowship at the world famous breast reconstruction unit in Gent, Belgium, with some of the world’s best microsurgeons.
To my knowledge, I am one of only a few UK surgeons performing DIEP flap breast reconstructions and lymph node transfers for lymphoedema. In recent years, I have also focused increasingly on helping lipoedema sufferers.
I am a member of the British Association of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (BAPRAS), The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), The American Society for Plastic Surgeons (ASPS (International Member)) and the British Lymphoedema Society (BLS). I am also a Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) regional speciality advisor for Plastic Surgery. Recently, I completed a two-year tenure on the BAPRAS council (2015-17). During this period, I was a member of the British Standards Institute (BSI) responsible for improving European and national safety standards in non-surgical treatment. I am currently the UK representative for the International Confederation of Plastic Surgery Societies (ICOPLAST). I am also a contributor to work done with the BLS and British Lipoedema Society.
Author of over 30 papers and several prestigious book chapters, I regularly peer review articles for the major international plastic surgery journals. Plastic surgery is one of the most dynamic and challenging areas of medicine and seeing a female consultant is often advantageous for certain patients.
