In 2008, she undertook an internationally renowned fellowship in Strabismus and Paediatric Ophthalmology at Moorfields Eye Hospital under Mr JP Lee, Miss G Adams and Prof A Moore. She started working as Consultant at Stepping Hill Hospital in 2009 where she has been appointed to develop and lead a specialist Strabismus and Paediatric service. Miss Maino moved to Manchester Royal Eye Hospital in 2016.

Miss Maino is a Consultant Ophthalmologist with extensive expertise in treating adult and paediatric ocular motility problems (double vision, strabismus (squint), abnormal head posture, reading difficulties/dyslexia) with surgical, medical and optical treatments. Miss Maino has also a special interest in diagnosing and treating acquired problems (e.g. caused by thyroid eye disease, direct trauma, road accidents, stroke, cancer treatment) both in the field of eye movement and perception of images.
