About me
Professor Ali Noorani is the founder of OS Clinic & a globally renowned shoulder, elbow & upper limb surgeon. He is widely recognised for his expertise in biceps & pectoralis major repair, as well as complex arthroscopic shoulder surgery in athletes.
He is a trusted authority among elite athletes, including Premier League footballers, professional rugby players, cyclists, boxers & MMA athletes, including UFC competitors. He also treats professional bodybuilders & powerlifters, reflecting the breadth of his practice. His surgical expertise has been sought by athletes such as Eddie Hall, World's Strongest Man, & England cricketers Mark Wood & Jofra Archer.
Professor Noorani is internationally recognised for managing complex sports injuries & trauma, with many orthopaedic surgeons referring challenging cases to him. His roles have included serving as UK team doctor for the NBA & as an orthopaedic doctor for the NFL & Rugby World Cup 2015. He is also a trusted name within the film industry, treating A-list actors.
Based in London, he also practices in the Cayman Islands, Shanghai & Pakistan, reflecting a truly global reach. He is known for delivering accurate diagnoses with clarity & empathy, alongside a strong commitment to research & innovation.
He graduated from Imperial College School of Medicine London in 2000 & completed orthopaedic training on the Royal London rotation, including specialist training at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Stanmore. He became FRCS Trauma & Orth in 2009 & completed advanced fellowship training at the Royal Liverpool Hospital Upper Limb Fellowship Programme.
He was awarded the British Shoulder & Elbow Society Fellowship in 2010 & the British Orthopaedic Association Fellowship in 2011, training at leading US centres including Mass General Harvard, Mayo Clinic, Columbia University, Hospital for Special Surgery New York & the Rothman Institute. He also completed an AO trauma fellowship in Salzburg.
His NHS base is The Royal London Hospital, Europe's largest level 1 trauma centre, where he provides tertiary care for complex upper limb patients.
As Founder, Medical Director & Chairman of OS Clinic, he leads a team of over 30 orthopaedic & maxillofacial specialists treating patients globally. He also leads the upper limb service at the Sports Injury Clinic at OS Clinic & operates at Circle London Independent Hospital, Bupa Cromwell Hospital, The London Clinic & Harley Street Specialist Hospital.
He is Visiting Professor of Orthopaedics & Medical Education at the University of Greater Manchester, contributing to the development of a new medical school.
Professor Noorani is known for a multidisciplinary, patient-centred approach. Despite performing over 15000 surgeries, only 20% of his patients require surgery due to his emphasis on rehabilitation-led care. When required, he uses minimally invasive & joint preservation techniques to optimise recovery.
He places equal importance on diagnosis & communication, ensuring patients fully understand their condition & treatment options. He has pioneered multidisciplinary teams & one-stop clinics using LEAN methodology, improving patient pathways. He has also been at the forefront of telemedicine, enabling cross-border diagnosis & care.
He is a founding member of the Royal London Orthopaedic & Trauma Society & Barts Orthopaedic Fund, & a board member of EUSSER. He is an active member of BSES, BOA & BMA & a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. He has published widely & contributed to major research programmes, including acting as principal investigator on multicentre trials & a level 3 stem cell pharmaceutical study preparing for FDA submission.
