About me

Professor Ahmed El-Missiry is a consultant psychiatrist who specialises in General and Addiction Psychiatry. He works as an Inpatient Consultant Psychiatrist at Nightingale Hospital in London, as well as in the Crisis and Home Treatment Team and North London personality disorder services as well as Early Intervention in Psychosis Services. Professor El-Missiry previously led the largest drug and alcohol detoxification unit in Southeast England and served as the Royal College of Psychiatrists' Regional Representative for Addictions.
Professor El-Missiry had his training in the UK at Guy's and St Thomas' and King's College. He became a member of��the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2004 and was elected as a fellow in 2020. He earned his international addiction medicine competence degree in 2005 and was awarded a fellow of the International Society of Addiction Medicine in 2015 and the American Psychiatric Association in 2017.
He is currently a professor of psychiatry at the World Health Organisation Collaborative Centre for Training and Research, and the Principal Investigator of several national and international research projects.
