About me

Professor Ahmed El-Missiry is a consultant psychiatrist with nearly three decades of experience in general and addiction psychiatry. His clinical practice and research interests span a broad range of complex mental health conditions, including ADHD, OCD, personality disorders, dissociative disorders, psychosis, and treatment-resistant disorders.

He currently works within inpatient private services at Nightingale Hospital London and Battersea Bridge Hospital. In addition to his private practice, Professor El-Missiry contributes to the Crisis and Home Treatment Team and the North London Personality Disorder Service within the NHS. Previously, he led the largest drug and alcohol detoxification unit in Southeast England and served as the Royal College of Psychiatrists' Regional Representative for Addictions.

Professor El-Missiry started his career in psychiatry in 1997. He completed his psychiatric training in the UK at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital and King's College London. He became a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2004 and was elected as a Fellow in 2020. He obtained his International Diploma in Addiction Medicine in 2005, was made a Fellow of the International Society of Addiction Medicine in 2015, and became a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association in 2017.

Currently, he holds a professorship in neuropsychiatry at the World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Training and Research and serves as the principal investigator for several national and international research projects.
