About me
Chris Peach is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in treating disorders of the shoulder and the elbow and traumatic injuries of the entire upper limb. His expertise in arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery of the shoulder and the elbow is recognised worldwide. This method of treatment enhances the rapid recovery of sporting injuries. He is also able to offer arthroscopic surgery for other conditions affecting the shoulder as well as the elbow as well as joint replacement surgery and fracture treatment.
Chris is a Consultant at the Manchester University Foundation Trust, a large teaching hospital in Manchester. He is Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at the University of Manchester,
His private consultations mostly take place in the brand new OrthTeam Centre. This is a brand new private healthcare facility providing world-class expertise combined with state-of-the-art diagnostics. He also consults at Spire Manchester Hospital and Spire Cheshire Hospital.
He is the founder of Cheshire Shoulder and Elbow Clinic who have been awarded the 'Best Sports Injury Therapy Specialists' in the North West at the 2018 Private Healthcare Awards and at the GHP Private Healthcare awards 2019 as 'Leaders in Sports Injury Treatment - North West England'. We have been awarded 'Best Sports Injury Specialists' at the M&A Today Global Awards 2020. These accolades represent our tireless commitment to high quality care for all of out patients which ensures the best outcome for all.
Chris graduated as a doctor from Imperial College School of Medicine and trained as an Orthopaedic Surgeon in London, Oxford and the North West. He spent two years undertaking a post-graduate research degree at the University of Oxford, having been awarded the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons of England Research Fellowship and examined the genetic basis of Osteoarthritis of the Shoulder.
Chris trained as a specialist surgical fellow in the Upper Limb Unit at Wrightington Hospital under Prof Ian Trail, Prof Len Funk and Mr John Haines. He also was awarded the Sheffield Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship and trained at the internationally recognised Northern General Hospital Upper Limb Unit with Mr David Stanley and Mr David Potter. He has also trained at the Mayo Clinic in the United States with Dr Shawn O'Driscoll who is recognised as a world leader in complex elbow surgery. In 2013 he was awarded the British Elbow and Shoulder Society coveted North American Elbow Fellowship to further develop his experience in complex elbow surgery in the United States working with other leaders in the field.
Chris is an invited trainer of other consultant orthopaedic specialists in shoulder and elbow surgery including arthroscopic skills and joint replacement surgery of the shoulder and elbow. He is invited to teach both nationally and internationally.
Chris is the Chairman of the Research committee for the British Elbow and Shoulder Society and is committed to supporting high quality research in orthopaedic surgery.
Chris is a Professor in Orthopaedic Surgery at The University of Manchester. His research interests focus on novel materials for tendon regeneration. He leads a research group at the University of Manchester and has been awarded a Royal College of Surgeons of England Pump Priming Grant to further research into bioabsorbable implants for fracture surgery. His clinical research has been awarded another national award and is currently examining how to get patients back to their activities as soon as possible after shoulder surgery (something our patients tell us is most important to them).
Chris lives in Hale with his young family and in his spare time plays racquet sports and competes in triathlons.
