About me

Mr Tysome is a Consultant ENT Surgeon at Cambridge University Hospitals. He has a busy practice managing all aspects of both adults and children with ENT problems, with extensive experience of complex ear and sinus surgery seeing patients referred from across the UK. He is an internationally recognised expert in Eustachian tube problems performing balloon dilation of the Eustachian tube.

He is an Affiliated Associate Professor at the University of Cambridge and has an active research profile running national clinical trials, develops new medical devices and is regularly invited to speak at conferences around the globe. He is Vice-Chair of the NICE Interventional Procedures Advisory Committee,Member of the Royal Society of Medicine Otology Council and Secretary of the British Skull Base Society Council. He the Director of e-learning for ENT UK and NHS England National Clinical Lead for Specialised Ear Surgery. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Clinical Otolaryngology.

He read preclinical medicine at Cambridge University and clinical medicine at University College London. He trained in London before a fellowship at Cambridge University Hospitals and worked as a Clinical Instructor at Stanford University School of Medicine in California, USA before taking up his Consultant post in Cambridge.
