About me

I have extensive experience of delivering front line public services to very needy applicants in the field of social care, housing welfare and mental health. I have also managed and mentored staff and senior staff operating in a political environment, taught and counselled university students. Thus applying skills from organisational psychology I have been chartered for 15 years and have the experience of work, study and relationships that is needed, in addition to the formal qualifications and training.
I am a Registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC); I am a Doctor in Health Sciences, I am a British Psychological Society (BPS) Chartered Psychologist, Member of the BPS Occupational Division and Affiliate of BPS Coaching and Counselling Psychologists.

My Counselling, Psychology Theoretical Approaches:
Eclectic approach including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) and Reversal Theory (RT)

I offer Counselling, Psychology Services for these Issues
Anxiety, Assertiveness, Bereavement, Bullying, Leadership, Career, Depression, Grief, Identity, Inhibitions, Lack of Meaning in Life, Loneliness, Low Self Confidence, Low Self Esteem, Midlife Crisis, Personal Growth, Personal Relationships, Personality Difficulties, Post Natal Depression (PND), Redundancy, Self Development, Social Phobia, Stress, Unresolved Issues, Weight Loss, Work Issues and Work Relationships

I use counselling and coaching methods when working with clients to enable insight and recovery through understanding, acceptance and action. Our sessions may involve using therapies to help consider personality traits and related feelings and behaviours. However on a deeper level it is important to understand how day to day moods (states) affect clients too. Understanding these aspects and where they spring from can be empowering, freeing clients from illogical barriers and helping them to understand the impact they are having on themselves. This is as important as recognising their impact on others or that others have on them in different situations. It is the starting point to considering the situation and what can be done about it.
A deep understanding is essential - that is breaking down the problem and isolating specific aspects into manageable stages that we can tackle - with definite goals.
