About me

Dr Jung is a Consultant Neurologist and the Director of the Leeds Regional Motor Neurone Service. She is an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Leeds.

Dr Jung completed her initial medical training in India in 1990 including a clinical MD in General Internal Medicine (thesis on Unexplained Fevers :1993), following which she worked in the Sultanate of Oman as a junior consultant in Internal Medicine. She started her Neurology training in the UK (2004, Yorkshire Deanery) and has a post graduate Certificate in Medical Education from Leeds University. She completed a post CCT Fellowship in Neurological Infections at the University of Liverpool and started as a Consultant Neurologist at Leeds Teaching Hospitals in 2011. She has held the national position of Associate International Director for International Medical Graduates at the Royal College of Physicians London where she worked closely with senior NHS leaders to address the national work force crisis. Dr Jung believes in keeping compassion as the cornerstone of all interactions and also does virtual pro bono neurological consultations for patients from the Tibetan community in India.

Dr Jung sees a wide range of patients with general neurological disorders including those with nerve and muscle disorders, headaches, and blackouts. Her sub - specialist interest is Motor Neurone Disease (MND). She developed the concept of �The Rob Burrow Centre for MND� in March 2020- a bespoke purpose-built centre providing holistic care for her patients with Motor Neurone Disease. This has become a national movement with ongoing public funding, and she continues to raise awareness on MND. Her specialist work on MND has been featured in two highly acclaimed BBC documentaries, 'Rob Burrow My Year with MND' and 'Rob Burrow Living with MND'.

Dr Jung has worked and taught across the world in India, Sultanate of Oman, Malawi, Uganda, and Rwanda. Her work on reducing health inequalities through medical education and the development of curricula and low-cost teaching aids is internationally recognised.

Dr Jung is proficient in multiple languages including Hindi, Urdu, Marathi and Punjabi.
