About me
Miss S. Bridget DeCruze is a Consultant Gynaecological Surgeon and Gynaecological Oncologist with extensive expertise in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of gynaecological cancers. She graduated from the University of Sheffield in 1994 and completed specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the Cheshire and Merseyside region, achieving her Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in 2005. She subsequently undertook subspecialty training in Gynaecological Oncology at Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust, receiving her Certificate of Subspecialty Training in 2009.
Miss DeCruze has held a substantive Consultant post at Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust since completing her training and worked at the Liverpool Women's Cancer Centre between 2011 and 2020 as a Consultant Gynaecological Surgeon and Oncologist. In 2020, she joined the gynaecological surgical team at The Christie, one of Europe's leading cancer centres. She also continues to serve as Lead Colposcopist at Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust, managing both simple and complex colposcopy cases.
Her clinical interests include cytoreductive surgery and the use of HIPEC (heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy) in the treatment of ovarian, tubal and peritoneal cancers, as well as robotic surgery for endometrial cancer. She is also particularly interested in sentinel lymph node detection for endometrial and vulval cancers.
Miss DeCruze has extensive experience in both diagnostic and therapeutic gynaecological procedures. She performs investigations and treatments for conditions ranging from heavy or painful periods to symptoms suspicious for gynaecological or pelvic cancers. Diagnostic procedures she performs include colposcopy, cervical biopsy, cone biopsy, loop excision of the cervix (LLETZ), cervical cryocautery, vulval and vaginal biopsies, hysteroscopy, and dilatation and curettage.
Her surgical expertise includes open, laparoscopic and robotic procedures such as hysterectomy, myomectomy, pelvic lymph node dissection, sentinel node detection, vulval excisions, vulvectomy, groin node dissection and cytoreductive surgery for ovarian, tubal and peritoneal cancers.
As an active member of the Specialist Multidisciplinary Team (SMDT) at The Christie, Ms DeCruze is committed to delivering evidence-based care and achieving the best possible outcomes for patients. Known for her compassionate approach and high surgical standards, she maintains a high clinical workload with consistently low complication rates.
