About me

I have worked for over the past 25 years as a psychotherapist in Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy. I am now part time in the NHS as Consultant Psychotherapist.
I believe good therapy regardless of model is about listening and helping a person to think about their thinking and behaviour. Helping to understand the mechanisms that underpin our responses and how we can change what we want to change, or accept what we can not and move on in life.
The approach I take is grounded in research, professional and lived experience.
I have a particular interest in anxiety related problems and obsessive compulsive disorder and presented recently at the OCD action conference on the treatment of OCD and autism (March 2018).
I have worked in the area of dental anxiety having published a 10 year evaluation of the reduction of he sedation in severely anxious patients. Over the past 10 years I have also been involved in developing treatments for people with atypical facial pains and bruxism.
