About me
Mr Ben Rudge qualified from St George's Hospital Medical School in 1999. He spent a year working in Perth, Western Australia, before returning to basic surgical training in London. He then undertook his specialist orthopaedic training on the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital rotation and also underwent a UK advanced training fellowship in foot and ankle surgery. He subsequently gained further experience in the management of complex lower limb trauma at the Royal London Hospital. Mr Rudge was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon to West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust in 2012. He is also the College Tutor for Surgery for the Trust.
Mr Rudge's main surgical interest is in the treatment of all aspects of foot and ankle pathology. He offers a full range of surgical treatments for conditions such as hallux valgus (bunions), hallux rigidus and lesser toe deformities. He is trained in minimally invasive surgical techniques which he uses when appropriate.
He also treats degenerative foot and ankle conditions including arthritis of the midfoot and hindfoot, alongside degenerative tendon conditions such as tibialis posterior tendinopathy. He has an interest in stubborn plantar heel pain and Achilles tendinopathy which he treats with a multidisciplinary approach including the use of shockwave treatent when required.
Mr Rudge offers various treatments for sports injuries including lateral ligament reconstruction and ankle arthroscopy. He also works alongside orthotists and physiotherapists to offer a multidisciplinary approach to the conservative treatment of foot and ankle conditions.
Mr Rudge ensures that he takes the time to explain things clearly and logically, enabling patients to make informed decisions about their treatment.
