About me
Mr Nev Davies is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in adult knee surgery and children's orthopaedics. His practice spans all ages, from children and teenage athletes with sports knee injuries through to adults with ligament, meniscal and cartilage injuries and patients with knee arthritis.
His specialist knee interests include ACL reconstruction and revision ACL surgery, meniscal repair, patellofemoral instability, cartilage injuries, joint-preserving surgery, osteotomy, partial knee replacement and total knee replacement. He has a particular interest in treating active patients and helping them return safely to sport and activity.
Nev has particular expertise in children's and adolescent knee conditions and sports injuries, including ACL injuries and kneecap instability. He completed his specialist Trauma and Orthopaedic training on the Oxford programme followed by a specialist fellowship in children's orthopaedics at The Children's Hospital at Westmead in Sydney, Australia.
Alongside his clinical practice, Nev is actively involved in research, education and sports injury prevention. He teaches nationally and internationally on children's orthopaedics and knee surgery and is a Trustee and co-founder of Power Up to Play, an injury-prevention initiative working with sporting organisations, schools, clubs and coaches to reduce serious knee injuries, particularly ACL injuries, in young athletes.
Nev has contributed to peer-reviewed research and has written two orthopaedic books published by Oxford University Press.
Nev believes in listening carefully, explaining the diagnosis clearly and involving patients and families in decisions about treatment. Surgery is not always the answer, and he works closely with specialist physiotherapists and other clinicians to consider non-operative treatment wherever appropriate.
He also welcomes second opinions for complex knee problems in children, adolescents and adults, including patients considering surgery or seeking another opinion following previous treatment.
