About me
Dr Shyam Menon is a highly respected Consultant Gastroenterologist with specialist expertise in hepatobiliary and pancreatic medicine, as well as advanced interventional endoscopy. He holds a substantive NHS post at Heartlands Hospital whilst offering private practice at Nuffield Health Wolverhampton Hospital.
He trained in the West Midlands and completed extensive research into the influence of gender on the development of Barrett's oesophagus and oesophageal cancer, earning an MD from the University of Birmingham. During his training, he also gained additional qualifications in Epidemiology and Nutritional Medicine. He later undertook advanced fellowship training in hepatobiliary endoscopy in Liverpool. Dr Menon has previously served as Clinical Lead for Gastroenterology at The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust and contributes to regional service development through his role on the West Midlands Clinical Senate Council.
Alongside his general gastroenterology and hepatology practice, Dr Menon has developed a substantial clinical and academic portfolio in hepatobiliary and pancreatic medicine. He is actively involved in research, teaching and training, and has been awarded Fellowships by both the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American Gastroenterological Association.
Dr Menon manages a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions, including acid reflux, inflammatory bowel disease, liver disorders, irritable bowel syndrome and gastrointestinal cancers. His specialist interests include pancreatic disease and bile duct disorders. He is highly skilled in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy and is an expert in ERCP, cholangioscopy and Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS).
