About me
Professor Richard Graham is a Consultant Radiologist practicing general radiology with subspecialist expertise in diagnostic and interventional musculoskeletal radiology, sports imaging and nuclear medicine. Richard has expertise in cancer imaging and general radiology also. Richard regularly undertakes medicolegal instructions in radiology for NHS Resolution, claimants and medical defence organisations.
He is Director and of Research and Innovation at the Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust and was previously the Trust interim Chief Medical Officer. Richard is a Visiting Professor in Health & Applied Sciences at the University of West of England, Bristol. Richard is chairman elect of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine Bone and Joint Committee. He has held a number of senior leadership positions in the nuclear medicine and radiology in the UK: he is Immediate Past President of the British Nuclear Medicine Society and a Past President of the Radiology Section of the Royal Society of Medicine. Richard is a leader in radiology training and was previous Head of Radiology Training for the Bristol (Severn) region and is a member of the Royal College of Radiologist’s Clinical Radiology Speciality Training Board. The radiology teams Richard has led, and been a member of, have won a number of national awards.
Richard grew up in South Devon and studied at the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford. He trained in radiology in Oxford and was awarded the Constance Thornton Fellowship in 2008 by the Royal College of Radiologists to undertake a Visiting Fellowship at Stanford University Medical Centre, California. He has undertaken training in leadership and management and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute and a Senior Fellow of the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management.
Richard is an officer in the Royal Naval Reserve where he has been Head of Medical Branch and Commanding Officer of HMS Flying Fox in Bristol. He has deployed twice as a Consultant Radiologist to Camp Bastion in Afghanistan.
Richard is Yeoman of the Worshipful Company of Apothecaries and a member of its Livery Committee.
