About me
I'm a thoracic surgeonďż˝ an expert in using surgery to treat lung cancer and any other condition in the chest.
With surgery, as part of other treatments, I aim to cure lung cancer but also to fix other conditions that affect my patient's quality of life, such as rib fractures, excessive hand sweating, and facial blushing, and treat collapsed lungs.
Choosing the right surgeon for you is essential; after all, you will be entrusting your life to him/her. I trained at the world's leading universities and cancer centers ďż˝ including the University of Toronto and McMaster University in Canada, where I did a fellowship in advanced keyhole surgery ďż˝ and I am dedicated to providing attentive, friendly, and reassuring care that is entirely focused on your needs.
Invariably, all doctors would say that, in my case, my mother was my first patient when I graduated. She had a lethal at the time skin cancer called melanoma, and eventually, she died because of it. I spent the last two years of her life with her, going through the numerous treatments and their side effects. That developed an understanding of what it means to look after patients with cancer and their families: I have very much been through the other side of the barricade.
One of the privileges of working with private patients is the space it provides to give you all the one-on-one attention your diagnosis requires and to support you throughout your treatment journey. Follow-up care will be tailored to your individual needs, ensuring that the effects of treatment are monitored for success while allowing you to continue living your life. My administrative and support staff team ensures you can reach me and access the information or support you need quickly and efficiently. That charter translates into:
-appointments that won't be rearranged at the last minute to suit your life: either in person or virtually
-quick response to queries (often within minutes of emailing me)
-direct line in case of any issue before, during or after your care
-help with referrals to other specialists and chasing investigations on your behalf
-speedy access to investigations and treatment
-All scans are gathered on your behalf, so there is no need to spend endless time over the phone getting them yourself.
The most rewarding part of my work is seeing patients continue to make the most of everything life offers. I aim to empower my patients to fully engage with their family, friends, and whatever interests them. Life, after all, is for living. Speaking personally, I'm proud of my Italian roots, but I make the most of all that London has to offer and made the UK my home a long time ago; both my children were born in London. I trained in London, and I am grateful for all the opportunities it gave me and the possibility to achieve my full potential, having graduated from an average state school in a relatively unknown town in central Italy.
I'm an avid jazz fan and try to go to a live show any time I can. If you have not done it yet, try the Ronnie Scott Club. I enjoy running and cycling around north-west London, where I live, even if I could do more of that. Every day, I try to dedicate some time to physical activities, either at the local gym or outside, as they keep me in the best condition to perform my job at my best.
Please get in touch to find out how we can work together to support you through your treatment and help you achieve the best possible outcomes for now and in the future.
