About me
Mr Jonathan Clarke is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Moorfields Eye Hospital, specialising in glaucoma and cataract. He is currently the research lead for industry initiated pharmaceutical studies in the glaucoma department and is principle investigator for several ongoing studies.
Mr Clarke studied as an undergraduate at Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School. He trained in London, Windsor and Southampton and his higher surgical training was undertaken as a Fellow in the Glaucoma Service at Moorfields Eye Hospital.
He sees patients at Moorfields at Mile End Hospital, where he is Clinical Lead and at the City site.
His major research interests include assessments of visual function in glaucoma and wound healing after glaucoma surgery with improved surgical outcomes. He is a member of the Secretary of State for Transport’s Honorary Medical Advisory Panel on Driving and Visual Disorders and a previous expert committee member of the Glaucoma section of the European Vision Institute Clinical Research Network. Following a two year period of an MRC funded Clinical Research Fellow at the Institute of Ophthalmology and Moorfields Eye Hospital where he completed his MD thesis on wound healing after glaucoma surgery. He is a member of the Clinical Advisory Panel for the charity Glaucoma UK. He is active in cataract surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma interventions and all forms of glaucoma surgery.
