About me
I am a consultant vascular radiologist and Clinical Director of Radiology in Leeds. I specialise in treatments using small punctures into blood vessels and navigating tiny instruments though them towards the site of the disease. This is sometimes called 'pinhole surgery'
There are many diseases that can be treated in this manner. Recovery after pinhole surgery is usually much faster than after open or even key-hole surgery. The technique has made possible many new and innovative treatments.
My main areas of interest are pinhole treatments for fibroids and ademoyosis (diseases of the uterus), treatment for cancers and other diseases of the liver and pinhole surgical management of trauma. I also have an interest in the management of deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism and their consequences.
I have helped develop national standards for pinhole treatments in these areas and have ongoing related responsibilities with NICE and other professional organisations.
I firmly believe in a holistic and patient-centered approach to these complex treatments and am careful to ensure that my patients’ concerns and expectations always remain central to any treatment programme we decide to pursue.
Areas of interest
Vascular radiology; Gynaecological vascular intervention; Uterine fibroid embolisation; Liver vascular intervention; TIPS; TACE; Vascular access intervention for dialysis
