About me

Mahantesh Karoshi is Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the Barnet Hospital of Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust, London. He is a surgeon, author of scientific articles and has co-edited five stand alone textbooks.

His keen interest is to find out why this happened to any given women's health condition and from then work towards how to sort it and how to prevent it happening again.
His areas of expertise in Gynaecology are, Fibroids, modern management of fibroids ( incision free techniques ( Radio Frequency Ablation - Sonata) heavy menstrual bleeding,
Modern management of uterine polyps with less injury to the lining of the womb such as Truclear ot Myosure rather than traditional bipolar technologies. As women are delaying their first childbirth, adenomyosis is more common than before, also with advent of better quality ultrasound machines and MRIs adenomyosis is more easily diagnosed than before. Severity of adenomyosis does matter in terms of fertility outcomes.
Subfertility,
Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) issues - liberal use of HRT has led to new issues, more women are experieicing abnormal bleeding secondary to HRT usage in the age they are not suppose to be bleeding. This has led to new cohort of women with cancer scare. Evidence shows that, the use of HRT does make fibroids grows, endometriosis and adenomyosis worsen and uterine polyps can happen.

chronic vaginal discharge, genital prolapse,

polycystic ovarian disease (PCOS) - as we all know body weight issues in general is a world wide issues. Put simply, obesity is pandemic and is affecting the world population. One of the ways women manifest is period issues - less frequent periods, missing periods, excessive hair, acne, and Type 2 diabetes

ovarian cysts - some are secondary to birth control options such as hormonal implants, hormona IUD ( Mirena or women with weight issues.

Sometimes the causeis unknown when it comes to management, size matters as well as symptoms and nature of the cyst ( simple cyst or complex cyst) or dermoid cyst.
Endometriosis - historically laparoscopy was considered as gold standard to diagnose, but, not anymore. A skilled professional can diagnose endometriosis with 90% certainty and even MRI can add more to the diagnosis such as multiorgan involvement.

Bartholin's cysts, heavy periods, vaginal atrophy, pelvic pain, preconceptional counselling and advanced laparoscopic & hysteroscopic surgery

He works along with team of professionals both in the NHS and Private sector to provide the best possible clinical outcomes to his patients.

He takes his patients through a journey and works along with them, so that; the best outcome is achieved with their understanding and participation in their unique clinical situation.

Karoshi's most important contribution to the field being taking the editorial role as a Registrar working along with Professors B-Lynch and Louis Keith to publish the first stand-alone textbook on Postpartum Haemorrhage. Knowing how important this book will play its role worldwide, HRH Princess Anne launched it in London in 2006.

In 2010, Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, London awarded him the prestigious Bernhard Baron Travelling Fellowship. This gave him the opportunity to work in University of Buenos Aires. The European Academy of Gynaecological Surgery, Leuven, Belgium, has awarded Karoshi with Gynaecological Endoscopist Certificate.

Previously (2001-2005), Karoshi has worked as Clinical Research Fellow in Reproductive Medicine and Fertility Unit where he gained expertise in follicular tracking, ovulation induction, formulating management plans and intrauterine inseminations.
