About me
Dr. Debashis Roy is a highly experienced Consultant Cardiologist with a special interest in cardiac pacing. He graduated from Guys and St. Thomas Medical School in 1998 and later completed an industry fellowship, earning an MD in Cardiology in 2006. Dr. Roy underwent postgraduate training in Cardiology on the South Thames rotation, gaining extensive experience at prestigious hospitals including St. Thomas's, St. George's, and Eastbourne hospitals in Surrey, Sussex, and London.
In March 2011, Dr. Roy was appointed as a consultant at Colchester University Hospital and The Essex Cardiothoracic Centre. He later moved to Princess Alexandra Hospital in May 2013. Dr. Roy's expertise lies in pacemaker and implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) implantation, as well as biventricular pacing for patients with heart failure. Notably, he played a pivotal role in establishing Essex's first district general ICD implantation and follow-up service, and he continues to be a high-volume implanter of biventricular pacemakers at the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre.
Dr. Roy has pioneered the introduction of left bundle branch pacing(a new and novel form of cardiac resynchronisation) for heart failure in Essex. He has also set up complex device therapy, Biventricular Pacemaker Implantation for Heart Failure patients at Princess Alexandra Hospital. He is the Clinical Lead for Cardiology and Lead for the Pacing service at Princess Alexandra Hospital.
Dr. Roy is also actively involved in clinical research, with research papers published in international peer-reviewed journals, further contributing to advancements in his field.

Ischaemic heart disease, hypertension, valvular heart disease, cardiomyopathy, echocardiography, coronary angiography and pacemaker implantation.
Management of cardiac arrhythmias including palpitations and blackouts.
Special interest in complex device implantation including implantable cardioverter defibrillators and pacemakers in patients with heart failure - cardiac resynchronisation therapy.
