About me

I am a consultant medical oncologist with a special interest in treating patients with breast cancer. I work in the NHS at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre and I see patients privately at Ross Hall Hospital, Glasgow. Originally from Manchester, I trained in Cambridge and London before moving to Glasgow in 1997 to complete my medical oncology training. In 2005, I was awarded an MD by the University of Glasgow for work analysing markers of chemotherapy resistance in breast cancer.

My main clinical practice involves treating breast cancer patients with systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT), such as chemotherapy, endocrine therapy (hormone treatment), immunotherapy and targeted therapies. I also play a national leadership role in the development of NHS breast cancer services and I am interested in the management of long-term breast cancer treatment toxicity, particularly menopausal symptoms. I am the West of Scotland Lead Clinician for breast cancer and I am the clinical chair of the Scottish Breast Cancer Clinical Management Pathways Editorial Group. In the NHS, I am also an Educational Supervisor for medical oncology trainees, a Clinical Appraiser and I am a recognised Greater Glasgow and Clyde Mentor.
