About Dr Jayesh Makan
Dr Jayesh Makan is a highly respected Consultant Cardiologist based in Shrewsbury, offering expert assessment and treatment for a wide range of heart conditions. He specialises in the diagnosis and management of chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations, dizziness, blackouts, heart rhythm disturbances and sports related cardiac issues.
He has developed a distinguished interest in Sports Cardiology, recently completing an MSc in the specialty after being awarded a full academic scholarship from St George's Hospital, University of London.
Dr Makan runs a comprehensive private cardiology clinic at Nuffield Health Shrewsbury Hospital, alongside his NHS consultant work at the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust. He has also been appointed Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at St George's Hospital, London, one of the UK's leading cardiac centres.

Dr Makan graduated from Guy's and St Thomas' medical schools with:

He completed his specialist cardiology training in London, including three years at the Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Trust, world renowned for heart, lung, and circulatory medicine.

� Biventricular (CRT) pacemaker therapy
He is a Certified Cardiac Device Specialist with the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) � an internationally recognised qualification demonstrating excellence in heart rhythm device management.
Career Achievements
Since joining Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust in 2011, Dr Makan has:
� Established a new complex cardiac device service for Shropshire
� Served as Clinical Director of Cardiology for nearly a decade
� Contributed to medical education as Undergraduate Tutor for Keele University Medical School
� Been recognised as a COVID 19 Hero for his clinical leadership during the pandemic
Sports Cardiology & Research
Dr Makan remains highly active in clinical research. Between 2003 and 2005, he completed research with Professor Sanjay Sharma, a world leader in sports cardiology and inherited cardiac disease. His research was funded by Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY), and in recognition of his contributions, he was appointed a Trustee of the charity in 2018.
He is a keen sportsman and long distance runner, completing:
� London Marathon 2000 for Greenwich Hospice
� London Marathon 2022 for CRY
� Numerous charity half marathons and 10K races
His academic work includes:
