About me

I am an Honorary Consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine. My NHS practice is at the Institute of Sport, Exercise and Health (ISEH) at University College London Hospital (UCLH), where I am also joint lead of UCL's MSc programme in Sports Medicine, Exercise & Health.

I have extensive experience in elite, team sports, and endurance sports medicine through my roles of Tournament Physician at Wimbledon (2023- ) Medical Director of the Brighton Marathon (2026- ) and Assistant Medical Director of the London Marathon (2009- ), as well as previous roles as Medical Director of RideLondon (2022-24), the London and Blenheim Triathlons (2011-2018), and Harlequins Rugby Club (2012-2019).�

My research interest is focused on injuries and illnesses relating to participation in endurance sport, especially running, cycling and triathlons. I have published many peer-reviewed research papers in this field, including as a co-author on the the Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care's Consensus Statement of Pre-Hopsital Management of Exertional Heat illness.

I am co-organiser of Marathon Medicine, the largest and longest running conference on the medicine and science of endurance sports world-wide.

I have been elected as Vice-President of the new College of Sport, Exercise & Musculoskeletal Medicine, and have twice been an elected Council member of the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine, UK. I was a Founding Board member of the International Institute of Race Medicine (now World Academy of Race Medicine under World Athletics).

I am a Director of RaceReady.run, a not-for-profit medical information app for runners.
