About me
Mr Andrew Goldberg OBE is a senior fellowship-trained Consultant Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeon in London, specialising exclusively in the diagnosis and treatment of foot and ankle conditions in adults and children.
He has particular expertise in ankle pain, ankle arthritis, total ankle replacement, ankle fusion, ankle instability, sports injuries, Achilles tendon problems, bunions and complex foot and ankle reconstruction. He also treats common causes of foot pain, including tendon disorders, plantar fasciitis, forefoot conditions and foot and ankle deformity.
Mr Goldberg runs a full-time specialist foot and ankle practice in London and takes a strongly patient-centred, non-surgical approach. He believes surgery should only be recommended when genuinely necessary and is able to manage more than 85% of patients without surgery. Treatment plans are personalised to each patient's symptoms, lifestyle and goals, working closely with physiotherapists, podiatrists, orthotists and other rehabilitation specialists.
He also chairs the pan-HCA Foot and Ankle Multidisciplinary Team (MDT), bringing together specialists from across HCA Healthcare UK to review complex and unusual foot and ankle cases. This gives patients access to collective specialist opinion, peer review and an additional layer of clinical governance.
When surgery is required, Mr Goldberg offers a comprehensive range of treatments including total ankle replacement, ankle fusion, ankle arthroscopy, ankle ligament reconstruction, Achilles tendon surgery, bunion surgery and complex foot and ankle reconstruction, using minimally invasive techniques where appropriate.
He has particular expertise in ankle arthritis and ankle replacement surgery and is Chief Investigator of the TARVA trial, a major NHS-funded multicentre study conducted across 17 hospitals comparing total ankle replacement with ankle fusion for end-stage ankle arthritis.
Mr Goldberg has been at the forefront of personalised ankle surgery and pioneered the introduction of patient-specific PROPHECY� instrumentation for ankle replacement, allowing surgery to be planned around each patient's individual anatomy. His research also includes 3D-printed technology, joint preservation and regenerative treatments.
Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Goldberg is a Visiting Professor of Trauma and Orthopaedics at Imperial College London and an Honorary Associate Clinical Professor at UCL. He is also an International Editor of Foot & Ankle International and has published extensively on ankle replacement, ankle arthritis and foot and ankle surgery.
He has been recognised in the Tatler Doctors Guide and Spear's list of leading private doctors and surgeons in London. In 2011 he was awarded an OBE for services to medicine.
His specialist practice is supported by a dedicated administrative team with a 24-hour patient contact service and immediate consultant access for urgent postoperative queries, providing continuity of care throughout treatment.
