About me

I am a registered nurse and BABCP accredited psychotherapist, supervisor and trainer and I have over 25 years experience working with children and young people within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). I have held a variety of CAMHS positions including senior CBT therapist, supervisor and clinical team lead. I have also worked as an independent CBT practitioner for many years offering psychological therapies. More recently I have taken up a teaching position at a leading north east university where I teach both high and low intensity psychological therapies as part of the government’s initiative to improve access to psychological therapies for children and young people.

As a highly experienced practitioner I adhere to the frameworks and guidance issued by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) as well as keeping up-to–date with new research and developments. My clinical practice is monitored through regular supportive clinical supervision ensuring that children and young people receive the most appropriate and evidence-based interventions. I have many specialist interests including (for example) working with children and young people who present with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Anxiety, Depression, Self-harm, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, Learning and Emotional Difficulties.

I am an enthusiastic, warm and empathetic person and I am driven by my passion of working with children, young people and families. I pride myself in establishing excellent therapeutic relationships in order to help facilitate positive change as well as facilitating positive improvements in mental health and emotional wellbeing.
