About me
I am an approachable, down-to-earth Counsellor and Counselling Supervisor. Trained to MSc level in Counselling at the University of Bristol, I have over 40 years of extensive experience in a variety of approaches and settings including: as an NHS Lead Counsellor in GP surgeries (2005-2014), providing workplace counselling at Bristol City Council and within the Occupational Health Department at the Royal United Hospital in Bath. I am able to work effectively with individuals and couples.
By providing a warmly engaging reflective space where there is both support and challenge I can help you bring about positive change and deal proactively with issues of low self-esteem, betrayal trauma, bereavement, abuse, loss, anxiety, depression, post natal depression, menopause, bullying and anger etc
As an integrative Counsellor with a commitment to providing a purposeful and professional service to my clients I am continually developing and updating my practice. The approaches I draw on include: Gestalt, CBT, Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, Psychosynthesis, Life Coaching, Advanced Integrative Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Counselling for Depression (CfD), Solution Focussed Therapy and Energy Psychology. In addition I am APSATS trained and able to provide Counselling for betrayed partners particularly where sexual compulsivity/addiction has impacted the relationship.
I hold BACP Senior Accreditations as both a Therapist and Supervisor which means that my practice is professionally scrutinised. In addition, my competencies and practice standards align to Column C of the BACP SCoPEd framework.
