About me

As a Consultant Gastroenterologist in South East London, my primary focus is on providing a rapid, accurate diagnosis and personalised treatment plan for patients with a wide range of digestive health concerns. I have specialist expertise in managing complex Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), including Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis, as well as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), acid reflux (GORD), and coeliac disease. My goal is to find effective solutions for symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, indigestion, diarrhoea, and changes in bowel habits.

Performing high-quality, comfortable endoscopy is a particular interest of mine. As the Lead Clinician for Endoscopy at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich, I am actively involved in improving and developing our services to ensure the highest standards of care. I perform a comprehensive range of endoscopic procedures, including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, and video capsule endoscopy. To ensure the best possible experience, I offer patients a choice between local anaesthetic, conscious (mild) sedation, or deep sedation depending on their preference. My research background in personalised medicine allows me to utilise the most novel and effective therapeutic agents, particularly for patients with complex IBD.

I trained at the prestigious Guy's, King's and St. Thomas' medical schools and completed my rigorous specialty training in the South London gastroenterology programme. My research in IBD and gastrointestinal disease at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals has been recognised with several grants and awards, including the prestigious NHS Innovation London Award. I am also deeply committed to medical education; I teach, train, and examine medical students and post-graduate doctors, and contribute to the writing and quality assurance of post-graduate examinations for UK physicians (MRCP examinations) and the European Specialty Examination in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

Above all, I am an approachable doctor who believes that excellent communication is central to outstanding care. I am committed to ensuring every patient feels fully informed, listened to, and actively involved in all decisions about their health.
