About me
Gareth Hill graduated from St George's Hospital Medical School, London in 1998. After his house jobs he spent six months at a base hospital in Outback Queensland, Australia before resuming his basic surgical training at Frimley Park Hospital, Surrey. He undertook his higher orthopaedic training through the North-West Thames rotation through St Mary's Hospital, Paddington, including appointments at Kingston Hospital, Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford and the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading.
After attaining the FRCS(Trauma & Orthopaedics) he undertook a 12 month fellowship at the Perth Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Centre in Perth Australia, with a particular focus on soft-tissue injuries of the shoulder & upper limb. He returned to the UK in 2010 to take up a locum consultant appointment at Frimley Park Hospital, and has been a substantive consultant there since July 2011.
He specialises in problems of the shoulder & elbow, and he performs both open & arthroscopic surgery, in addition to joint replacement for arthritis. Common conditions treated include shoulder instability, frozen shoulder, impingement syndrome and rotator cuff tears, arthritis, tennis & golfer's elbow. His research interest is in measuring the outcomes of surgical intervention with the aim of improving treatment for patients.
