About me
Mr Samad graduated in 1996 from Trivandrum Medical College in, India.
He completed his basic surgical training in South Wales and research fellowship in Birmingham. Following this he joined the higher surgical training program in Liverpool with a special interest in Colorectal Surgery.
After completing his specialist training Mr Samad spent 18 months as a laparoscopic (key hole) fellow in Perth, Western Australia. He returned to the UK in 2010 and was appointed as a Consultant Colorectal and Laparoscopic surgeon in St Helens & Knowsley NHS trusts.
Since his appointment Mr Samad has established the service of keyhole surgery for both benign and malignant diseases of the small bowel, colon and rectum.
He performs more than 80 laparoscopic colorectal operations and over 130 laparoscopic cholecystectomy (removal of gallbladder) in a year. Mr Samad also performs Trans-anal Endoscopic Microsurgery (TEO) which is a keyhole operation to remove small benign tumour or polyps from the back passage. He also offers Trans-anal Haemorrhoidal Dearterilisation (THD) the so called ‘painless piles operation’, Video Assisted Anal Fistula treatment.
In a short period of time Mr Samad has taken up the role of Lead Clinician for Colorectal cancer services in NHS trust. He is actively involved in teaching and is a faculty member for the surgical courses conducted in the Master unit in Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
