About me

I am an experienced Consultant General, Laparoscopic and Upper-GI Surgeon based in Cardiff, with over 16 years of consultant-level practice. My private practice focuses on gallstones and gallbladder problems, together with groin and abdominal-wall hernias. I have particular expertise in laparoscopic (keyhole) gallbladder surgery and laparoscopic hernia repair.
I provide comprehensive assessment and management for patients with gallstones and hernias. My services include management of gallstones, biliary colic and other gallbladder problems, performing laparoscopic cholecystectomy (keyhole gallbladder removal). My hernia practice includes inguinal (groin), femoral, umbilical, epigastric, ventral and incisional hernias, including complex abdominal hernias. I select the most appropriate surgical technique by considering the type of hernia, the patient's general health, current clinical guidance, and lifestyle, aiming to achieve the best possible individual outcome.
I combine extensive surgical expertise with current evidence-based practice and place shared decision-making at the centre of every consultation. Each patient receives a personalised assessment, a thorough discussion and an individually tailored management plan, supported by guided post-operative care. When suitable, I use minimally invasive surgery to reduce post-operative discomfort and support an earlier return to normal daily activities.
I hold MD, FRCS and FEBS qualifications and serve as Clinical Lead for Organ Retrieval at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. My wider work in transplantation, organ retrieval, clinical governance and service development complements my long-standing general surgical practice.
