About me

Dr John Moore-Gillon MA MD FRCP.

Specialist in respiratory (pulmonary) medicine. Qualified in medicine (with distinction) from the University of Cambridge, 1976. Appointed Consultant Physician St Bartholomew's Hospital 1988, now Emeritus Consultant Physician, St Bartholomew's and Royal London Hospitals. Former President of the British Lung Foundation, now Vice-President and Hon Medical Advisor to the Foundation.

Areas of expertise include: Asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD; formerly known as chronic bronchitis and emphysema); pneumonia; tuberculosis; occupational lung diseases (including asbestos-related); investigation for suspected lung cancer.

Medico-legal expert witness, particularly in occupational lung disease. Circa 3,000 reports prepared over 25 years, including high profile/leading cases (5 to House of Lords/Supreme Court) and class actions. Currently approximately equally balanced between claimant and defendant instructions.

Areas of interest

Asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (chronic bronchitis and emphysema), investigation of suspected lung cancer, occupational lung disease, including asbestos-related conditions, pneumonia, tuberculosis.
