About me

Arijit Mukherjee graduated from University of Calcutta, India in 1986 and had his basic and higher surgical training in Ireland, the West of Scotland and in the South East Thames rotation (London Deanery). He subsequently did a clinical research fellowship in the Colorectal and Pseudomyxoma Unit at North Hampshire hospital, Basingstoke.

He is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon with a special interest in colorectal cancer surgery, laparoscopic assisted surgery, complex diverticular disease, management of haemorrhoidal disease (Transanal Haemorrhoidal Dearterialisation) and Laser treatment for anal fistula and advanced haemorrhoidal disease and treatment of anal fissure. He has published and presented articles on various aspects of colorectal surgery and psuedomyxoma peritonei.

He had been the training lead for the endoscopy unit at Hairmyres Hospital and Colorectal cancer Lead for NHS Lanarkshire.He is actively involved in Undergraduate and Higher surgical training in West of Scotland. He is an examiner for the InterCollegiate Speciality Board(FRCS)
