About me

Miss Farrugia is a Consultant Paediatric Urologist and Surgeon at the Chelsea & Westminster and Imperial College Hospital NHS Trusts; and the Cromwell Hospital, London. She is amongst the first paediatric robotic surgeons in the UK, and has an established practice in minimally-invasive surgery. Miss Farrugia completed her fellowship in Paediatric Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, in 2008. She trained in leading University hospitals including Great Ormond Street Hospital, Kings College, St George's Hospital and the Oxford Radcliffe. Her expertise in fetal and perinatal urinary tract abnormalities stems from her postgraduate research at the University of London Institute of Child Health. She was awarded the American Academy of Pediatrics travelling fellowship to the Boston Children's Hospital and the Johns Hopkins Hospital Baltimore for her publications on the obstructive megaureter. Her other specialty areas include antenatally-diagnosed kidney and genital anomalies; hydronephrosis; vesico-ureteric reflux and disorders of sex development. She became a Consultant Paediatric Urologist at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London, in 2011 and was later elected as the Clinical Lead for Paediatric Surgery (2019-2025). She is the senior editor of the Fetal and Perinatal Section of the Journal of Pediatric Urology; an executive board member of the European Society of Pediatric Urologists; research committee member of the British Association of Paediatric Urologists; and part of Faculty on the PROMASTER European Masters course in Robotic-assisted Surgery. Outside work, Miss Farrugia is a Crossfit and fitness enthusiast.
