About me

Miss Farrugia is a Consultant Paediatric Urologist, and Clinical Director for Paediatric Surgery and Paediatric Urology, at the Chelsea & Westminster and Imperial College Hospital NHS Trusts. She completed her fellowship in Paediatric Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, in 2008. She trained in leading University hospitals including Great Ormond Street Hospital, Kings College, St George's Hospital and the Oxford Radcliffe. Her expertise in fetal and perinatal urinary tract abnormalities stems from her postgraduate research at the University of London Institute of Child Health. She was awarded the American Academy of Pediatrics travelling fellowship to the Boston Children's Hospital and the Johns Hopkins Hospital Baltimore for her publications on the obstructive megaureter. Her other specialty areas include antenatally-diagnosed kidney and genital anomalies; hydronephrosis; vesico-ureteric reflux and disorders of sex development. She became a Consultant Paediatric Urologist at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London, in 2011. She is amongst the first robotic paediatric surgeons in the UK and is skilled in minimally-invasive paediatric urology. She is the senior editor of the Fetal and Perinatal Section of the Journal of Pediatric Urology, and a member of the research committee of the British Association of Paediatric Urologists. Outside work, Miss Farrugia is a Crossfit and fitness enthusiast, and occasionally relaxes on a beach.
