About me
Philip Conaghan qualified from Oxford Medical School in 1995 having completed both pre-clinical and clinical training at Oxford University. As well as his medical degree, he also gained a Masters degree in physiological science and was awarded a post-graduate doctorate in 2010 for his research into bowel cancer both from Oxford University.
Following qualification in 1995, Mr Conaghan carried out his surgical training in Norwich and London before returning to the Oxford region for his registrar training. He gained a prestigious Ethicon laparoscopic fellowship in Nottingham prior to taking up his post in Reading in 2009
Mr Conaghan specialises in minimally invasive procedures for bowel cancer and inflammatory bowel disease as well as general surgical conditions such as hernias and perianal conditions such as haemorrhoids (piles), fissures, fistulae and abscesses. He provides diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy as well as diagnostic gastroscopies (OGD). He has an excellent completion record and polyp-detection record for colonoscopy.
Mr Conaghan regularly examines for Oxford University School of Medicine and teaches surgeons in training on courses run by the Royal College of Surgeons.
