About me
Versatile General surgeon qualified in 1990 with wide experience in General Surgery. Sam is Specialist in advanced keyhole surgery, trained in University hospitals in Cambridge, Birmingham, Nottingham and Plymouth.
He has a long track record of Gallbladder and hernia surgery. Over the years, Sam has developed special expertise in fixing hernia that have failed several repairs in the past. He gets many referrals for this and has excellent results.
Sam performs Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy and cholangiogram as day case procedures with no complications and excellent patient satisfaction. Patient satisfaction is available on iwantgreatcare and hospital appraisals.
Laparoscopic hernia surgery has been Sam's passion for the last 20 years, having done many such operations both in hospital and private practice. He is a keen trainer in keyhole surgery and has trained many colleagues and trainees to perform keyhole hernia surgery.
Sam has a big practice of incisional hernia surgery which he performs both laparoscopically and by open operation.
Kidney transplant and renal failure patients are very complex both medically and surgically. Sam performs major surgery on this group regularly with very good outcomes.
Sam went on further to train in solid organ transplantation, practicing adult and paediatric kidney transplantation and dialysis surgery in Nottingham University Hospital. Sam is credited with starting and leading laparoscopic kidney donation in Portsmouth in 2009 and training the team. He has featured in several press and television release to promote organ donation and living kidney donation.
Sam completed UK Specialist Surgical Training (CCST) in 2006 and became Consultant Surgeon in Portsmouth since 2008. He has been in private practice since 2011 in Spire Portsmouth Hospitals and moved to Nottingham for family reasons in 2016. On the panel of Specialists of all major insurers.
