About me

I am a London-based general adult psychiatrist working both in the NHS and in private practice. I have nearly 20 years’ experience in psychiatry, and a broad range of expertise in most psychiatric and psychological difficulties.

I obtained my medical degree in Italy, where I also completed my Postgraduate qualification in General Adult Psychiatry, and I have over 10 years’ experience as a substantive Consultant Psychiatrist in the UK

I have always had an interest in psychotherapy, and I am one of few Consultant Psychiatrists formally trained and practicing Cognitive Behaviour therapy (CBT) having obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in CBT in 2019 at Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre (OCTC), which has a worldwide reputation as a Centre of Excellence in CBT.

I worked as a substantive consultant in several services within the NHS, having worked in community, crisis, acute and specialist services: Community Mental Health Team, Crisis Resolutions and Home Treatment Team, Acute Psychiatric Wars, Specialist Services for Obsessive Compulsive Disorders (OCD) and Body Dismorphic Disorder (BDD), and Specialist Services for Personality Disorders and for Deaf People.

I Am the Consultant Psychiatrist and Clinical Lead for the National Specialist Service for OCD and BDD, which is the only dedicated 24/7 nursing supported service for OCD and BDD in UK.

I offer assessments, management and treatment advice for Mood Disorders (e.g. Depression and Bipolar Affective Disorder), Anxiety Disorders (e.g. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Panic Disorder, Generalised anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and Personality Disorders.

Since the beginning of my career in psychiatry, I have been particularly passionate in in understanding and researching the treatment as well as the biological and psychological mechanisms of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and I developed a particular expertise in helping patients suffering with these conditions. I took part in psychopharmacological research, worked in specialist nationally renowned services for OCD and formally trained in CBT to expand my knowledge and clinical skills. I published scientific papers and co-authored book chapters, as well as having lectured at national and international conferences.

I speak English and Italian fluently. I am also qualified in British Sign Language Level 1 and I am currently studying for Level 2. I have a very good awareness of deaf culture and mental health and developmental difficulties in deaf people.

I undergo a yearly appraisal in line with GMC guidelines and I have been recently revalidated by the GMC. I am a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrist and I receive a yearly certificate of Good Standing for my engagement in Continuing

Professional Development.
