About me
Mr Patel is an internationally renowned expert in the treatment of diseases that affect the macula. He qualified as a doctor at Cambridge University where he obtained a first class degree. He completed his postgraduate training in Ophthalmology at the world-famous Moorfields Eye Hospital, London. He was a clinical research Fellow at Moorfields and at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology. As one of the lead investigators for the world’s first randomised trial of Avastin for age-related macular degeneration he won the Moorfields Research Medal for his work now published in the British Medical Journal. He has also carried out research validating new imaging modalities for the assessment of macular disease.
He has earned a reputation among patients and colleagues for providing excellence in the care of the patient with macular disease including the use of Lucentis, Avastin, Eylea and Ozurdex injections, verteporfin photodynamic therapy and advanced macular laser treatments. He is also actively involved in research to find novel therapies for macular disease including age-related macular degeneration and offers access to latest treatments including Eylea injections for macular disease.
