About me

Dr Venables is an experienced Consultant Cardiologist at Ipswich and Papworth Hospitals. Since his appointment in 2010 his practice has included the investigation and management of all cardiological symptoms and conditions. Out-patient clinic appointments are available at the Nuffield Hospital as well as pacemaker implantation, complex device implantation and invasive cardiac catheterisation procedures undertaken at Ipswich and Royal Papworth hospital. The quality of his clinical work and role in developing cardiac services Ipswich Hospital was recognized with the award of a Clinical Excellence Awards (CEA) in 2013, 2015 (double award) and 2017.

Dr Venables sub-speciality interest is in Cardiac Rhythm Management, including leading the Pacing department at Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust and being one of the main implanters of complex devices ( Cardiac- resynchronization and Implantable Defibrillators) at Papworth Hospital. In 2013 he was awarded European Heart Rhythm Society accreditation in both Cardiac pacing and Electrophysiology.
