About me
Ash Prabhudesai is a Consultant Colorectal, Laparoscopic & General Surgeon at The Hillingdon and Mount Vernon Hospitals, where he is Clinical Lead of the Department of General Surgery. He has a varied general and colorectal surgical practice. He is also Hon. Senior Lecturer at Imperial College School of Medicine, London.
Ash completed his higher surgical training in teaching hospitals in London, inc Charing Cross and St Mary's. He also did a fellowship at St Mark's Hospital, London, which is an internationally renowned centre for bowel diseases. This was followed by a Laparoscopic Colorectal Fellowship in Frimley Park Hospital, Surrey.
Ash undertook a period of research for over two years on rectal cancer at St George's Hospital, London, and was awarded the degree of MD (Research) by the University of London.
His main interests are laparoscopic (keyhole- minimally invasive) surgery for both general surgical and colorectal conditions, both benign and malignant, and the Enhanced Recovery Programme. He is an accredited surgeon for laparoscopic resection for bowel cancer. He is a recognised trainer for higher surgical trainees.
He is interested in laparoscopic surgery for gall bladder disease and hernias. He also has an interest in proctology inc. management of PR bleeding, minimally invasive treatments for haemorrhoids, perianal sepsis incl. anal fistulas and Botox for anal fissures. He performs colonoscopies regularly.
