About me

I am a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Critical Care at Barts Heart Centre, St Bartholomew's Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust, London.

I studied Medicine at the University of G�ttingen in Germany, and completed my specialist training in Anaesthesiology, Intensive Care, Pain Medicine and Emergency Medicine at the University Hospital Bonn and the Heart Hospital, UCL Hospitals, London. I subsequently undertook advanced training and obtained German Board qualifications in Advanced Intensive Care Medicine, Prehospital Emergency Medicine and Health Informatics.

Previously, I was a Research Fellow within Collaborative Research Centre 330, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). I was awarded a PhD by the University of G�ttingen for my research investigating the influence of corticosteroids on postoperative outcomes and fluid balance in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG).

I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA), a Fellow of the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (FFICM), and a Diplomate of the European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (DESAIC). I am also a member of several professional societies in anaesthesia and critical care.

My current clinical interests focus on cardiothoracic and major vascular anaesthesia. Throughout my career, I have also gained broad experience across a wide range of surgical specialties, including upper gastrointestinal surgery (including oesophagectomy), gynaecology and obstetrics, orthopaedics and trauma, maxillofacial surgery, urology and ophthalmology.

I have advanced training and extensive experience in transoesophageal echocardiography (TOE) and hold European accreditation for adult TOE through the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI).
