About me

Miss Arafa is a highly experienced consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. In addition to her medical degree (MBBCh), she also holds a membership to the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG), a Master degree in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (MSc), Miss Arafa has a Diploma in the family planning and a Diploma of Obstetric scanning awarded by the Royal college of obstetrician and gynaecologist in London.

She worked as a full time NHS consultant at Epsom and St Helier Hospital for almost 7 years but she is currently practice only in the private sector. She was qualified from Alexandria University after which she worked in several distinguished hospitals in both Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Through this, she gained extensive valuable experience working in a multi-ethnic society with different needs and conditions. In 1996, she moved to the UK and trained in many prestigious hospitals in London including King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Royal Free Hospital NHS Trust and St. Mary's NHS Trust. Following her training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, she also carried out clinical research at the fetal medicine unit at the Royal Free Hospital for two years. She had advanced/tertiary referral centre training and accreditation for leadership in labour ward and intrapartum care. Miss Arafa is interested in management of high risk pregnancies, complicated obstetric cases with associated medical problems and Obstetrics scanning.

Miss Arafa has an active collaborations with international societies, and working in liaison to improve women health particularly in the developing countries

She is an active member of the Royal College of Obstetrician and Gynecologists (RCOG), The Faculty of Sexual & Reproductive Healthcare (FSRH) and British society of colposcopy and cervical pathology (BSCCP )

She is also an accredited colposcopist and has a diploma of Family Planning (DFFP). She offers a full range of gynaecological services including the management of: heavy periods, fibroids, endometriosis and pelvic pain, smear abnormalities and Colposcopy, polycystic ovarian syndrome, prolapse problems, menopause and contraception advice.

Miss Arafa feels strongly that it is every woman's right to choose the type of obstetric care and support she would like to receive. Her top priority is the safety of the mother and child and she enjoys practising privileges at the Portland Hospital where she is able to perform any necessary surgery. She combines professionalism with a personal touch, creating an open relationship in which mothers and patients are kept informed every step of the way about what to expect and the choices available to them.
