About me
I have over 25 years of counselling experience and over 18 years of experience in psychotherapy gained within the NHS, with corporate clients and in my own private practice since 1996.
I originally trained as a social worker in 1980 with a generic caseload, but spent the last 13 years of my social work career in a psychiatric hospital team, having an ASW role within the Mental Health Act 1983.
My initial training as a counsellor was with the Egan model, a problem solving approach with a humanistic person-centered underpinning. I later trained for 4 years in Transactional Analysis and then completed a 2 year MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy, emphasising the role of the relationship in the healing process. I believe that the therapeutic relationship exerts a healing influence in many ways.
In accordance with the BACP ethical framework I am in regular supervision. Client anonymity is always maintained.
