About me

I am currently working as the only Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeon at Whipps Cross Hospital and as an in-reach cancer surgeon at University College London Hospital( UCLH). I have been an Upper GI consultant for 10 years following completion of my specialist registrar training and subsequent fellowship in the South East Thames Region.

My practice at Whipps Cross involves non cancer gastrointestinal surgery. I have performed over 3000 laparoscopic cholecystectomies as a consultant. My complication and conversion rates are well within national standards.
Furthermore I regularly perform reflux surgery and hiatal hernia repairs. Gallbladder and reflux procedures comprise of about 80% of my NHS work.

I have been involved in Upper GI cancer at a consultant level for the last 10 years, being a core member of the MDT and then subsequently involved in the resections and follow–up.

Furthermore I have considerable experience in complex benign and oesophageal reconstructive surgery. I routinely manage and operate on acute gastro-oesophageal emergencies.

I am a dedicated and confident surgeon, am well organized with good time management skills. I strived to mentor my team members professionally, and in some instances, personally. I enjoy teaching both during ward rounds and in theatre.

I have a keen interest in audit and research. I have had numerous presentations internationally, nationally and regionally.
