About me

Dr Mari Aldridge is a highly experienced Registered Clinical Psychologist who offers a warm and approachable style to those who are experiencing distress, psychological difficulties and mental health presentations. Focusing on working with adolescents (16-18 years) and adults across the lifespan, Dr Aldridge is able to apply her broad knowledge and understanding of theories and therapy models, ensuring that these are evidenced based and recognised by the NICE Guidelines.

Dr Aldridge offers her expertise in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) as she has undertaken additional extensive training to ensure that you receive the best possible treatment according to your specific needs; she has also developed her understanding, and has an interest in using Mindfulness Meditation as an additional tool in enhancing emotional wellbeing.

During the initial appointment, Dr Aldridge will always undertake a thorough psychological assessment where she is able to make you feel at ease. She can then devise a treatment plan for your recovery, where shared goals are identified, and therapy styles discussed. By working together from the initial appointment up until discharge, Dr Aldridge is always keen that progress and recovery is being made.

Prior to working as a clinical psychologist in private practice, Dr Aldridge worked for the HM Prison Service HQ as a Forensic Psychologist, undertaking risk assessments and interventions with offenders; she has also worked with the NHS in the Community Mental Health Team, a residential family assessment centre as well as in a variety of settings throughout her core training. Since becoming the Clinical Lead of Prometheus Psychological Therapy Centre, she has continued to maintain consistently high standards by ensuring she maintains regular supervision in accordance with her professional bodies guidelines, as well as undertaking extensive continued professional development.
