About me

I am a Consultant Spinal Deformity Surgeon at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham. Prior to this I was a Consultant Spine Surgeon with the ABMU Health Board, Swansea and at the Centre for Spinal Studies and Surgery, Nottingham. After completing my CCT in Trauma & Orthopaedics I undertook fellowships in spinal surgery at the Bristol Orthopaedic Spinal Service for a year and spent a year as a Spinal Reconstruction Fellow in Columbia, Missouri, USA.

I have an extensive experience in the surgical treatment of spinal deformity in children, teenagers, adults and the elderly populations. I also treat degenerative conditions of the cervical and the lumbar spine. I have treated professional and semi-professional football, cricket and rugby players, and am Spine Consultant with the Swans City FC and the BCCI.

I have published papers, co-authored chapters, presented papers to learned societies and lectured at national and international meetings. I am a member of the SRS, BSS, BASS, BOA and ASSI. I am on the Assistant Editorial Board of European Spine Journal, Reviewer for Spine and have served on the SRS website committee, SRS Grant Review Committee, SRS programme review committee and am on the SRS Education Committee.
