About me

I was appointed in 2010 as a general and colorectal surgeon. In 2017 I was appointed honorary senior lecturer at the University of Liverpool.

I am experienced in all aspects of general and colorectal surgery with a particular interest in colorectal cancer where I have maintained a 0% 90 day mortality since appointment.

I perform over 200 colonoscopies a year with a completion rate of over 95%.

I am also expert in all other colorectal and general surgical conditions and procedures including inguinal and abdominal wall hernia, haemorrhoids, fissure in ano, fistula in ano and inflammatory bowel disease.

I also run a specialist bowel dysfunction clinic with an interest in pelvic floor failure and IBS.

I have a strong translational and clinical trial research interest in advanced colorectal cancer and run a research team at the Institute of Translational Medicine at Liverpool University. I am the Chief Investigator of the national multi centre study HiP study which and am also involved in a number of other clinical trials as co-investigator and/or data monitoring.
